- • Your professor's explicit permission or classroom recording policies
- • Your course syllabus or institutional guidelines
2.2 User Responsibility
You agree that you will:
- • Check your institution's recording policy before using the recording feature
- • Obtain explicit permission from your professor if required by your institution
- • Comply with all local, state, and federal recording consent laws
- • Not record lectures where recording is prohibited by institutional policy
- • Use recorded lectures solely for personal study purposes
2.3 Professor Copyright and Intellectual Property
Lecture content is the intellectual property of your professor and/or educational institution. You agree that recorded lectures will be:
- • Used only for your personal educational purposes
- • Not shared, distributed, or sold to third parties without permission
- • Not republished, posted online, or made publicly available
- • Not used for any commercial purpose
- • Deleted if requested by your professor or institution
IMPORTANT: You are responsible for ensuring that any CART transcripts, interpreter notes, scanned documents, or other text you upload to Koala.ai are yours to share and comply with all applicable laws and institutional policies.
3.1 CART Transcripts & Interpreter Notes
When you upload CART transcripts or interpreter notes to Koala.ai, you agree that:
- • You have the legal right to upload and share the content
- • The content does not violate your institution's intellectual property policies
- • You have obtained permission from your professor or institution if required
- • You will use the content solely for personal study purposes
- • You will not share the uploaded content with third parties without permission
3.2 Document Scanning
When you use the document scanning feature, you agree that:
- • You own or have permission to use the documents you scan and upload
- • Scanned materials do not infringe on copyrights or intellectual property rights
- • You comply with "fair use" doctrine and your institution's policies on photocopying and scanning
- • Scanned textbook content is used only for personal study, not distribution
- • You will not scan and upload copyrighted materials for commercial purposes
Koala.ai offers Study Buddy, an AI-powered tutoring feature that learns from your uploaded transcripts and study materials. When using Study Buddy, you agree that:
- • AI-generated responses may contain errors or inaccuracies
- • You are responsible for verifying Study Buddy responses against official course materials
- • Study Buddy is a learning aid and not a substitute for your professor or official course resources
- • Your conversations with Study Buddy may be processed by third-party AI services
- • Koala.ai is not liable for errors in AI-generated study materials or tutoring responses
You agree not to use Koala.ai to:
- • Record lectures without proper authorization from your professor/institution
- • Violate any recording consent laws in your jurisdiction
- • Infringe on intellectual property rights of professors or institutions
- • Share or distribute recorded lectures without explicit permission
- • Use the service for commercial purposes
- • Violate your educational institution's recording or intellectual property policies
- • Commit fraud, harassment, or any illegal activity
- • Use Study Buddy to cheat or submit AI responses as your own original work
You retain ownership of any notes, flashcards, and study materials you create. By using Koala.ai, you grant us a license to store and process this content to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
Koala.ai uses artificial intelligence to generate flashcards, quizzes, study guides, and tutoring responses. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors. You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of all AI-generated study materials against official course materials and your professor's guidance.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NONINFRINGEMENT.
IN NO EVENT SHALL KOALA.AI BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR USE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
THIS INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, DISCIPLINARY ACTION, ACADEMIC CONSEQUENCES, LOSS OF ACADEMIC STANDING, OR LEGAL ACTION RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF THIS SERVICE.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Koala.ai from any claims, damages, or costs (including legal fees) arising from:
- • Your violation of these Terms
- • Your violation of any law or regulation
- • Your violation of intellectual property rights
- • Unauthorized recording or distribution of lecture content
- • Your use of the Service in violation of institutional policies
- • Any academic or legal consequences from your use of this service
We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violations of these Terms or applicable laws, without liability to you.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Your continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
